Super Bowl Wins Extend Beyond the Game

Super Bowl Sunday Marks Four Year Anniversary of Mobile Donation for mGive

DENVER, CO – Last time Tom Brady faced the Giants in the Super Bowl, he launched a worldwide revolution—of philanthropic giving.  In 2008, Tom Brady was the spokesperson for an ad that prompted viewers to donate to the United Way through texting.  The platform that powers these donations was provided by Denver’s own mGive.

Four years later, mGive has helped nonprofits raise over $50 million, communicate with 5 million donors, and initialize philanthropic spirit through innovative technology everyone has at their fingertips.  The causes helped by mGive are world-wide, including Haiti’s earthquake and Japan’s most recent tsunami, but mGive is based right here in Denver.  So, even though our beloved Broncos are not going to the super bowl, we’re happy Tom Brady will be there to celebrate the fourth anniversary of mGive’s launch to help the world.

The mobile donation channel is one of the fastest-growing fundraising channels in history and mobile donations are quickly becoming the preferred fundraising and donor communications method for nonprofits. Just four years after text-based giving first became available, the mobile donation fundraising channel has already raised 30 times as many dollars as the online donation channel did when it was in its infancy.

mGive has partnered with more than 60 of the nation’s leading mobile carriers (covering 99 percent of U.S. mobile customers) to enable nonprofits of all sizes to increase overall donations and reach new audiences using affordable, reliable and regulation-compliant text-based mobile giving campaigns.  mGive has supported more than 7,000 mobile giving campaigns for more than 500 nonprofit clients and processes around 85 percent of all mobile donations made today.

“More and more savvy nonprofits are realizing that mobile donations are an incredibly effective fundraising tool that can be used as part of a larger multi-channel donor acquisition and communications strategy,” said James Eberhard, the Founder and Chairman of mGive. “Mobile donation and mobile advocacy campaigns are a great way for nonprofits to reach new audiences and raise money  that they may not have received through other, more traditional channels.”
